SNCCC - Congregational History
Congregationalism in AmericaYou are probably wondering, what in the world is a Congregational church. Actually, Congregationalism is one of the oldest concepts for Christian Church organization in America. As the Congregational Library describes it, the American Congregational tradition rests on the principle, that "God's voice is most clearly heard when ordinary individual Christians join together under mutual covenant."
Congregationalism in America traces its origin back to the Puritans and Pilgrims and ultimately a document called the Cambridge Platform. You can also learn about Congregationalism at the Congregational Library, which has a Congregational History Primer online.
