Born and raised in the South Norfolk/Portlock section of Chesapeake, Rebekah has attended South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church all her life. She joined the church in 1993 and took the job of Secretary when the position opened up in 2003. Other than the secretary she is a member of the Joy Choir, Director of Sparks in Awana, the church librarian, and a member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. Along with her husband Michael and their daughter Mary, she enjoys serving the Lord in all she does.
Jake Tromburg was born and raised in Minnesota, and moved to the Chesapeake area from St Paul, Minnesota in May 2015 to become our pastor. He didn’t grow up in a Christian home, but was saved in his late teens and later became involved in a church plant in St Paul. It was around this time he began actively pursuing preparation for full time ministry. By God’s grace, Jake had the opportunity to study at the Master’s Seminary in Los Angeles, CA where he earned a Masters in Divinity in 2012. After seminary, he ministered as an intern at Beacon of Hope church for 3 years before answering the call to serve at SNCCC. Jake has a wonderful wife, Marie, and together they have 4 children, Jude (8), Aviyah (5), Joella (2), and their latest addition - Hudson born July 10, 2016. Jake and Marie both have a passion for God’s Word, and love to see God use His Word to change hearts and minds. In their free time they enjoy spending time together playing games, reading, or being outside doing anything active.
A native of North Carolina with a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Columbia International University in South Carolina, Bennett has lived in South Norfolk and been a member of SNCCC since 1995. He enjoys toys and the outdoors because they (also) make for great teaching tools. But by far, God's people speaking the truth in love to one another (from the pulpit, around the dinner table, in the car, in the midst of sorrow and celebration, one on one, in a small group or family, etc) is his favorite because we can learn Christ in His body, the church.
